Sitting at here at work I thought i would look up the results from Sunday's OMBC race at Alum Creek just North of Columbus, Ohio. First let me say what a beautiful park and lake. The trails were in immaculate condition. With the weather being hot and dry for the last few days the trails were dusty and fast which led to a quick pace right from the start. With over a mile flat path and paved road ridding before we entered into the single-track the fastest riders were in the woods quicker then I was. But once I hit the trail I was able to bring my heart rate down and then catch some of the riders. The easy part was the catch but passing them was a little harder. So much so that myself and another rider ended up crashing into each other as he let me by. This took out a rather large tree that was a popular topic discussed around the cooler with the free sodas donated by Pepsi.
As the race moved through the tight single-track with a lot of short ups & downs it was back to the path and paved road. I was able to catch and pass one more rider before the finish moving me to 14th 9 minutes behind the winner. I know it isn’t last place; in fact I was closer to the winner’s time then the last place finisher
